15-Year-Old Homeschool Student Hires 10 Employees

In a world where young people are often told to wait their turn, one 15-year-old homeschool student is showing what’s possible when you give children real-world tools and the freedom to build.

Enrolled in Classical Learner’s Homeschool Connected program, this driven teenage girl launched a successful dog walking business in her local community. But she didn’t stop there. With vision and hustle, she’s now expanded operations by hiring 10 of her friends—turning a solo side gig into a scaled operation that’s creating jobs and providing a valuable service.

When asked what inspired her journey, she shared a quote that sums up her mindset:

“It takes one small imperfect idea to create a great business.”

She explained, “My thought process behind picking this quote is that I believe when people are trying to start a business, it has to be perfect—a perfect business model, perfect marketing, etc. But in my experience, you figure things out along the way. You won’t always have the answers and that’s okay. What I feel like is the most important is starting and learning as you go.”

Her story is an inspiring testament to the power of alternative education models—and specifically, the impact of Classical Learner’s approach to learning. Unlike traditional schooling, which often emphasizes rigid curriculum and standardized testing, Classical Learner focuses on entrepreneurship, real-world application, and individualized learning paths.

Founded by Brett Pike, Classical Learner has grown into a thriving community of thousands of homeschool students. Brett, who holds a Master’s in Education, left the New York City public school system after seeing firsthand how institutional models were failing young minds. He set out to build something radically different—an education framework that equips students with practical skills, critical thinking, and the confidence to build, create, and lead.

Through live courses on entrepreneurship and history, as well as a supportive homeschool network, Brett and the Classical Learner team are helping students achieve real-world success before they even finish high school.

And this young entrepreneur isn’t the only one making waves. Another student in the program has already published four books—a feat that many adults dream of, let alone teenagers.

We’re proud to share these success stories as living proof that when students are given freedom and purpose, they thrive.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with Classical Learner, a program that’s reshaping what education looks like for the next generation.
